My name is Bart. I am a 23-year-old game designer and developer, and this is my portfolio website! I am based in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
In July 2024, I graduated from the Bachelor of Creative Media and Game Technologies at HKU. During my time at HKU I found myself in the roles of both a game designer and a game developer. Because of this, I would call myself a Technical Game Designer, as I have quite some experience in both designing games on paper and building them in-engine. This also gives me the ability to quickly prototype ideas in-engine.
When working on concepts, my focus is on getting it to a testable form so that I know what works for the player and what does not. When working on things like level designs, I try to balance working on paper and trying things out in-engine.
During my studies, I did an internship at CVS-Gaming, where I worked on a Unity game with twitch integration. Together with the team, I worked on the concept for a prototype and developed the first prototype during my internship.
For my Graduation Project, Attachment Issues, my main goal was to evoke an emotion within a polished game experience. If you are interested in the process of designing this game, be sure to check out it's page below!
Attachment Issues is a puzzle adventure game that lets you explore space while getting to know various creatures. You craft things and help your new friends!
